Brunswick County real estate market stays strong in July; average sale prices reach highest point in over a decade

SHALLOTTE, N.C. [August 15, 2019] -- Brunswick County’s residential real estate market demonstrated steady strength in July, according to statistics released by the Brunswick County Association of REALTORS®. Average sale prices hit their highest point in 12 years, total sales volume is up and the number of days on market is down compared to last year even though the number of units sold fell slightly.

“Brunswick County’s residential real estate market continues to hold true and steady,” said BCAR CEO Cynthia Walsh. “The last time we had an average sale price this high was in 2007, and with 44% of listings selling in 30 days or less, we’ve seen a strong market for both buyers and sellers in July.”

Average sale prices in Brunswick County increased 4.2%, rising from $274,703 in July 2018 to $286,204 this July. The number of new listings increased from 515 in July 2018 to 547 this July, a 6.2% jump. The number of units sold decreased slightly from 464 to 457, a 1.5% decrease. Total sales volume increased by 2.6%, from $127,460,000 to $130,800,000. The average number of days a home stays on the market dropped to 80 days for the second time this year.

Thirty-seven homes sold for $500,000 or more in July. The highest sale price was $1.4 million for a 7800-square-foot home with seven bedrooms and eight bathrooms.
