BCAR's Required New Member Orientation

All new BCAR members are required to attend New Member Orientation. This requirement must be fulfilled during the next 2 orientation sessions offered by BCAR. After joining BCAR, you will automatically be signed up for the next available New Member Orientation (but if you can not make the first offered NMO, you can attend the second offered NMO without penalty). New Member Orientation is free to all new members. Failure to complete this requirement during the next 2 sessions offered will result in inactivation of membership.

If you were a BCAR member, dropped your membership, and joined again within 1 year, you are exempt from New Member Orientation.

If you are a member of a different local Association and completed their New Member Orientation, you are NOT exempt from completing BCARs New Member Orientation.

New Member Orientation covers topics necessary for you, as a REALTOR®, to conduct yourself both professionally and ethically. We will also be discussing the overview of BCAR to help you better understand how the Association works, governmental affairs, REALTOR® safety, anti-trust and fair housing. It is also a great opportunity to learn about your benefits and meet other new REALTORS®.

If you have questions about New Member Orientation, please contact BCARs Education Coordinator.

NAR's Required New Member Code of Ethics

A REALTOR® membership with BCAR is also a membership with NAR. All new NAR members are required to complete NAR's New Member Code of Ethics within 90 days of joining. New Member Code of Ethics training is offered online for free by the National Association of REALTORS®. To complete your New Members Code of Ethics, visit nar.realtor.

During each "cycle", NAR requires all REALTORS® to complete 2.5 hours of Code of Ethics Training. A new member who has completed New Member Code of Ethics is not required to complete regular Code of Ethics training until the next cycle.

If you are a member of a different local Association and have completed NAR's Code of Ethics training during the appropriate time frame, you are exempt from completing New Member Code of Ethics after joining BCAR.

If you have questions about New Member Code of Ethics or regular Code of Ethics, please contact BCARs Education Coordinator.
