Brunswick County Association of REALTORS® releases real estate statistics for January 2017

Brunswick County’s residential real estate market is a healthy one, according to statistics released by Brunswick County Association of REALTORS®.

“While January is typically one of the slowest months for transactions and overall real estate activity, our market has continued to show strength entering 2017,” said BCAR CEO Cynthia Walsh. “We wrapped up 2016 with a strong, consistent, healthy market that saw no major spikes or dips. The market showed continued strength in January, with a 30% increase in units sold and an 18% increase in pending listings over the previous January. These positive numbers demonstrate that we are coming out of the gate strong in 2017.”


The number of new listings increased slightly in January, while the absorption rate dropped to 6.9 months, helping balance out the increase in listings. The absorption rate means that if sales continue at their current pace, and no new listings are added to the market, it would take 6.9 months to sell all inventory.
