What are the Benefits of Joining BCAR?
It's part of human nature to ask “what’s in it for me"? By joining BCAR, you join a 3-way partnership with the NC Association of REALTORS® (optional) and the National Association of REALTORS®. Click below to view your benefits.
MLS: The BCAR MLS is more than just listings. It is also a statistical reporting system, a tax information system and a parcel mapping system. Syndication is provided for maximum internet exposure for your listings. Mobile access to the MLS and a mobile app designed exclusively for buyers is included. Sure, it’s a large part of why you joined, but it isn’t the only thing we have to offer. With this in mind, however, we do have to remember what a valuable tool it is and how lost we would be without it.
Regional MLS: The ability to view all listings entered in the North Carolina Regional MLS.
SUPRA: A state-of-the-art lockbox and key system. Leasing your lockbox key through BCAR allows access to not only BCAR listings but Wilmington listings, too!
Networking Opportunities: We love to host events that bring our REALTOR® and Affiliate members together. It’s where you head to meet and greet. We try to find educational, political and inspirational speakers to teach you, inspire you, get you thinking, and make you laugh.
Continuing Education: CE Updates and CE Elective courses are offered at discounted prices for members and are held several times during the year. Our Education Coordinator will assist you in completing all of your education requirements.
REALTOR® Learning Resources: Our RLR's are free member-benefit training sessions. We offer a wide variety of training, from MLS and form updates to marketing, photography, taxes, and finance tips.
Committees: Get involved! Whether you want to help plan the education courses or work with the MLS, we have plenty of choices available to you. Involvement in committee work really gets you involved in the inner-workings of BCAR. Your knowledge and expertise are a value to your Association and your fellow members.
Dispute Resolution: Whether it is a violation of the Code of Ethics or commissions, we are here to help!
Governmental Affairs: Our Governmental Affairs Director keeps pace with what is going on locally, state wide and even at the national level and ensures that the voice of REALTORS® is being heard! RPAC (REALTORS® Political Action Committee) is one of the strongest advocacy organizations in the nation and raises money through member investments to elect candidates who understand and support YOUR interests!

What's Next?
Welcome and thank you for your interest in becoming a member of the Brunswick County Association of REALTORS® family. Follow the steps below to make sure you fill out the correct membership forms.
Remember: To qualify for REALTOR® membership or access to the MLS you must be a BIC, Appraiser or be affiliated with a BIC. You must also have a valid North Carolina Real Estate or Appraisal license.
PROCESSING OF ANY FORMS WILL TAKE 24-48 HOURS.
1. Determine Membership Type & Required Forms
You may join BCAR as a primary member if you are a licensed real estate agent in the state of North Carolina and affiliated with a Designated REALTOR®/Broker In Charge who is a member of BCAR.
An individual is considered a PRIMARY member if payment of state and national dues is through BCAR. You may only join as a Primary member if your Designated REALTOR®/Broker In Charge is a member of BCAR (either Primary or Secondary)
You must also be engaged actively in the real estate profession. This includes buying, selling, exchanging, renting or leasing, managing, appraising for others for compensation, counseling, or building, developing or subdividing real estate, and who maintain or are associated with an established real estate office in the state of North Carolina or a state contiguous thereto.
Required Forms:
You may join BCAR as a primary member if you are a licensed real estate agent in the state of North Carolina and have been designated the Broker In Charge of an office.
The Designated REALTOR®/BIC must be a sole proprietor, partner, corporate officer or branch office manager acting on behalf of the firm’s principal.
This individual shall be responsible for all duties and obligations of Membership including the obligation to arbitrate pursuant to Article 17 of the Code of Ethics and the payment of Association dues as established in Article X, of the Bylaws and must meet all other qualifications for REALTOR® Membership established in Article V, Section 2, of the Bylaws.
An individual is considered a PRIMARY member if payment of state and national dues is through BCAR.
Required Forms:
Secondary Members pay their state and national dues through another Association/Board.
Any licensee may join BCAR as a secondary member without the requirement of their Designated REALTOR®/BIC be a member. EXCEPTION - if MLS Access is requested, the DR/BIC must be a Participant in the MLS.

- Cooperating Supra e-KEY Agreement (for those who have an E-Key through primary association)
You may join the BCAR MLS and NOT become a member of BCAR as long as you are a licensed real estate agent in the state of North Carolina and a member of another Board/Association. MLS Access is granted to Participants (DR/BICs) first, then to Subscribers(agents/licensees). MLS Only REALTOR® members may ONLY have access to the MLS if their DR/BIC has access to the BCAR MLS.
Remember, with membership comes discounts - including MLS monthly fees!

- NCRMLS Participant Agreement
- Cooperating Supra e-KEY Agreement (for those who have an E-Key through primary association)
If you work as an office assistant and require access to the MLS you may qualify for Staff MLS Access. You may NOT have an active real estate license affiliated with a firm to qualify for this class of membership.
Required Forms:
- Office Staff Application
- Staff Waiver Request
- MLS Super User (optional – complete if staff needs to Super Use in MLS for multiple agents)
You may wish to receive notices, emails, etc. and do NOT require access to the MLS. You may NOT have an active real estate license to qualify for this class of membership.
Required Form:
Affiliate members are people involved in a business related to real estate but do not have an active licensed real estate. Affiliate members are given special opportunities to promote their business to BCAR Members throughout the year.

2. Review the Fees
Fees are calculated based on when you join and are different based on which type of membership is requested. Fees listed are subject to change at anytime.
We encourage you to contact BCAR staff at 910-754-5700 or email membership@bcarnc.com to confirm/verify calculation of fees.
3. Complete Required Training
You will be notified immediately after your paperwork has been processed via email. Included in that email will be the date of the New Member Orientation you are required to attend and Code of Ethics requirements.
