Brunswick County real estate market holds steady in May

Brunswick County’s residential real estate market demonstrated consistent strength in May, according to statistics released today by the Brunswick County Association of REALTORS® (BCAR). The numbers for May 2019 similar to last year, and total sales volume is up compared to April.

“Brunswick County’s residential real estate market is as healthy as you can get,” said BCAR CEO Cynthia Walsh. “We didn’t see any erratic shifts in pricing, available inventory or the number of days on market. The bottom line is that the market is in strong shape as we move into summer, which is typically our peak transaction season.”

Brunswick County saw $140,050,000 in total sales volume in May 2019, a slight 0.4% decrease compared to May 2018. The number of units sold decreased 1.6%, falling from 504 to 496 last month. The number of new listings increased 6%, jumping from 602 to 638, and the average sales price was up 1.2 percent over 2018, rising from $278,913 to $282,369.

Approximately 20% of the county’s total sales in May happened on the county’s beach islands. Additionally, sale prices were higher on the islands, averaging $421,270 compared to $246,760 inland.
