Brunswick County real estate sales skyrocket in June

Highest single-month sales total on record; market outpacing 2019

Brunswick County’s residential real estate market came back strong from May’s COVID-19 downturn. The market saw its highest single-month sales total on record in June, and year-to-date sales are $103 million ahead of 2019’s pace at the same point in time.

“June’s sales numbers are so high that I had to do a double-take to make sure I was reading them correctly,” said BCAR CEO Cynthia Walsh. “It took six months of total sales in 2012 to outpace last month alone. Our market has bounced back from the effects of COVID-19 and then some.”

Brunswick County saw $179,990,000 in total home sales in June 2020, a 26.1% spike over last June’s $142,740,000. The number of units sold jumped 12.6%, from 491 to 553. The average sale price increased 12%, from $290,722 to $325,473, with 36% of sales between $200,000 and $299,000, 25% in the $300,000 to $499,999 price range and 14% of sales were $500,000 and higher.
