Short Sales and Foreclosures Certification Course (CE Elective)

The Short Sales and Foreclosures course is specifically designed to show how you, the real estate professional, can serve as a resource for sellers and buyers in the brokerage of distressed properties. At the completion of the course, you will be prepared to effectively tackle a short sale or foreclosure from contract through close.

  • Distressed properties and how events like the 2008 housing crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic have impacted distressed buyers
  • The listing agent’s role in assisting distressed borrowers/sellers in navigating short sales
  • The steps involved in taking a short sale listing
  • The buyer’s agent role with short sale and REO transactions
  • Short sales from contract to closing
  • Topics and trends in short sales and foreclosures, and adapting your business to respond to these trends

If you have already completed your CE Elective for the current license year, NCREC will allow 4 hours of CE Elective credit to roll over to the following license year. 

To receive the SFR Certification, students must complete the certification course and pay NARs 1-time fee of $175. There is no annual renewal for this certification.
