Advocacy
Protecting Home Ownership
The Brunswick County Association of REALTORS® is actively engaged in supporting and protecting home ownership, private property rights and the real estate industry at the local, state and national levels. BCAR members are actively engaged with the NC REALTORS® advocacy efforts and our association partners with the Business Alliance for a Sound Economy (BASE) on local government affairs issues. Through legislative and regulatory engagement, political involvement, political fundraising through the NC REALTORS® PAC and consumer outreach through the NC Homeowners Alliance, the REALTOR® voice is there to protect your business and your industry.
A key component of the REALTOR® Party is the REALTOR® Political Action Committee (NCRPAC). NCRPAC's mission is simple and clear: to help elect real estate-friendly candidates to public office. NCRPAC backs candidates who understand and support the interests of North Carolina REALTORS®, regardless of a candidate's party affiliation.

BASE is the ONLY business organization that is 100% committed to advocacy. Other membership organizations have advocacy as part of their mission, but this is our one and only mission. BASE is solely committed to advocating on behalf of the business community and our advocacy partners.
Because advocacy is our singular mission, we are laser focused on achieving the best results for our community. We are not distracted with other priorities and obligations, so we operate very effectively and efficiently to achieve our goals. Our members’ investment provides one of the best ROIs of any business organization in the Cape Fear region.
As President and CEO of BASE, Tyler Newman attends numerous meetings with a wide range of legislators, regulators, industry organizations and others to consistently represent the best interests of business and industry throughout southeastern NC. BASE has formal advocacy partnerships with the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce and numerous Home Builders and REALTORS Associations to ensure the voice of business and industry is well represented in southeastern North Carolina.
Our mission is to support public policy that attracts a mix of business and industry and enhances economic opportunities in southeastern North Carolina.
