Code of Ethics Training

The National Association of REALTORS® requires all REALTORS® to complete 2.5 hours of Code of Ethics training anytime during each Cycle. 

If you are unsure as to if you have completed the required training during Cycle 7, visit NAR.realtor and check your Code of Ethics status.

If you have completed 2.5 hours of Code of Ethics training sometime during Cycle 7, you do not have to complete Code of Ethics training again until anytime during Cycle 8, which is January 1, 2025 - December 31, 2027.

There are several different ways that Realtors® can complete Code of Ethics training. Here are a few different options:

1. NAR offers online Code of Ethics training for free on their website.
2. Earn the Commitment to Excellence Endorsement (C2EX).
3. Some CE Electives will fulfill the Code of Ethics requirement. To search for CE Electives, visit BCARs course calendar. 

Make sure you are not confusing CE and COE courses. These 2 courses are not related.

Continuing Education (CE)

To keep your NC license active, NC Real Estate Commission requires all licensees to complete 8 hours of CE during each License Year. A License Year is July 1 - June 10.

Code of Ethics (COE)

To keep your Realtor® status active, the National Association of Realtors® requires all Realtors® to complete 2.5 hours of COE training during each Cycle. A Cycle is a 3-year timeframe set by NAR.

Yes - the definition of the word Realtor® is "member of NAR". Therefore, Appraisers are considered Realtors® and do have to complete COE training each Cycle.
