The North Carolina Real Estate Commission (NCREC) requires all licensees to complete 8 hours of Continuing Education between July 1 and June 10 of every year. 

If you are a BIC or BIC Eligible, your 8 hours of CE consist of 4 hours of a BIC Update + 4 hours of an Elective.
If you are a non-BIC Broker or Provisional Broker, your CE consist of 4 hours of a General Update + 4 hours of an Elective.

If you are unsure as to if you have completed the required training during the current License Year, visit NCREC.gov, log in and click on CE License Information. Your username is your license number and your password is the last 4 digits of your SSN unless you have changed it.

If you just received your NC license during the current license year, you do not have to complete CE until after your first license renewal.

If you are a Broker in Charge or BIC Eligible, your 8 hours of CE consist of a 4 hour BIC Update + a 4 hour Elective.

If you are a non-BIC Broker or a Provisional Broker, your 8 hours of CE consist of a 4 hour General Update + a 4 hour Elective.

BCAR offers several General Updates, BIC Updates, and Electives that will fulfill your CE requirements. These classes can be taken online, in-person, or self-paced.

CE and COE are often confused. Make sure you know the difference. 

To keep your license active, NCREC requires licensees to complete CE during each License Year. 

To keep your Realtor® status active, NAR requires Realtors® to complete COE during each Cycle. 

There are a few CE Elective courses that do fulfill NARs Code of Ethics requirement, but not all do.

Licensees must complete their 8 hours of CE anytime during each License Year. A License Year is July 1 - June 10.

CE Update credits do not roll over. 

NCREC will allow (no more than) 4 CE Elective credits to roll over to the following License Year.
