Brunswick County Association of REALTORS® releases real estate statistics for November 2018; County exceeds $1 Billion in Annual Sales Volume

 Brunswick County’s residential real estate market is closing out 2018 in strong fashion, according to the latest statistics released by the Brunswick County Association of REALTORS®. The county has surpassed $1 billion in total annual sales for only the second time since the Great Recession, despite the short-term impacts of Hurricane Florence.

“Two months ago, we all wondered how the market would respond after Brunswick County was hit by Hurricane Florence,” said BCAR CEO Cynthia Walsh. “The results are in, and the market has bounced back stronger than ever. Even though November is typically a slower month in the real estate market, we have already surpassed $1 billion in annual sales for only the second time since the Great Recession, and we crossed that threshold a month faster than last year.”

“Over the past five months we’ve seen a steady decrease in active and new listings and a steady increase in sales,” Walsh added. “These are indicators of a healthy market as we close out 2018. “

The number of new listings increased 0.8 percent in November 2018 compared to last year, rising from 390 to 393, while the number of units sold decreased 7.4 percent, from 336 in November 2017 to 311 last month. The average sale price increased slightly from $272,052 to $276,395, while total sales volume fell 6.0 percent, from $91.41 million to $85.96 million.
