Brunswick County real estate market demonstrates consistency during August; units sold, average sale prices both increase

 Brunswick County’s residential real estate market continued to show stability and strength in August, according to statistics released by the Brunswick county Association of REALTORS®. The number of units sold, average sale prices and total sales volume all increased compared to last year, while the number of new listings remained nearly static.

“Brunswick County’s residential real estate market has demonstrated steadiness and strength throughout the Summer, and August was no different,” said BCAR CEO Cynthia Walsh. “Prices are up, the inventory remains tight, and homes are selling at a good clip, all pointing to a competitive sellers’ market as Fall approaches.”

Average sale prices in Brunswick County increased 3.2%, from $282,390 in August 2018 to $291,329 this August. The number of new listings decreased slightly from 588 in August 2018 to 587 this August, a 0.2% drop. The number of units sold rose from 476 to 487, a 2.3% increase. Total sales volume increased 5.5%, from $134,420,000 to $141,880,000. The average number of days a home stays on the market hovered around the 90-day mark.  The absorption rate, which measures how long it would take to sell the current inventory of homes, has held steady between 5 and 5.5 months.
