Understanding Class Notice for Consumers

Consumers,

New practices by the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) have recently been implemented. We also want to inform you about an ongoing "class notice," which may affect you.

What is Class Notice? Class notice is an important communication approved by the court. It will inform eligible home sellers—those who sold a home through a Multiple Listing Service (MLS) in the U.S. and paid a commission to a real estate brokerage—about NAR’s proposed settlement of the Sitzer-Burnett case. This notice will be sent by mail and email to explain your rights, options, and deadlines under the proposed settlement.

You may have already received notices about separate settlements from certain brokerage firms, but this upcoming notice will specifically address NAR’s settlement.

What Should You Do? If you receive this notice and have questions, NAR members (like your real estate agent) can direct you to the settlement website at www.RealEstateCommissionLitigation.com or to the settlement administrator at 888-995-0207 for more information.

Please note that your agent or any other NAR member isn’t managing this process and is not able to provide further advice on the class notice.
