How to Get Involved
BCAR REALTOR® Members can make a ROTY nomination.
The REALTOR® of the Year Award was created to honor a REALTOR® who has provided outstanding service to BCAR, NC REALTORS®, the National Association of REALTORS®, their profession, and their community. This is your opportunity to complete a random act of kindness for a deserving REALTOR® that you know by submitting a nomination for them.
To qualify for the ROTY Award, your nominee needs to complete the following:
- Does your nominee have involvement in BCAR?
- Does your nominee have involvement with NCR?
- Does your nominee have involvement with NAR?
- Does your nominee have business accomplishments?
- Does your nominee have other recognized achievements?
Nominate a REALTOR® that goes above and beyond for our industry. Making a nomination does not require much of your time and could elevate business, increase credentials, and result in a game-changing honor for your nominee.

The Affiliate of the Year Award was designed to honor the best and brightest in the business. Do you know an Affiliate Member who has provided outstanding service to BCAR, Brunswick County, and their profession?
To qualify for the AOTY Award, your nominee needs to complete the following:
- Has your nominee been a BCAR Member for a consecutive 24 months?
- Is your nominee in Good Standing with BCAR?
- Has your nominee been involved with BCAR or sponsored a BCAR event?
- Does your nominee have at least 1 verifiable community involvement act?
Nominate an Affiliate that goes above and beyond! Making a nomination does not require much of your time and could elevate business, increase credentials, and results in a game-changing honor for your nominee.

No person may be a candidate for more than one position whether nominated by the Nominating Committee or by petition. Applicants must have involvement in the Association including a minimum of one year service on a committee, task force, or similar activity, including attendance at Association sponsored functions.
Duties
- Be thoroughly familiar with the Bylaws of the Association, the Operational and Policy Manual, the MLS Rules & Regulations and the Code of Ethics of the National Association of REALTORS®
- Serve as a member of the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors.
- Be familiar with Robert's Rules of Order and basic parliamentary procedure
- Attend the Annual Leadership Retreat
- Attend the Annual Professional Standards Training

BCAR Cares Task Force:
Affiliates and REALTORS® | This Task Force meets to research new ways that BCAR and members can give back to the community.
Bylaws & Policy Task Force:
REALTORS® only | This Task Force meets when Bylaws or Policy needs updating or changes need to be made. Familiarity with and understanding of Association Bylaws and Policy will be required.
Budget & Finance Task Force:
REALTORS® only | This Task Force is responsible for overseeing the finances of the Association and for the preparation of the annual budget.
Education Task Force:
REALTORS® only | This Task Force meets to manage New Member Orientation, Continuing Education classes and any other educational events for members.
Grievance Committee:
REALTORS® only | Must be able to attend Professional Standards Training, upon appointed date. This Committee meets on call and is a procedural review committee for requests for arbitration and ethical complaints. Requires a full day training (provided by the Association) to be able to serve (3 year staggered terms).
Legislative PAC Committee:
REALTORS® only | This Committee meets as needed and monitors local issues that influence real estate. The committee plans an annual legislative event for local politicians, and conducts the successful collecting of our RPAC goal. The entire committee is encouraged to attend the NCR Legislative Day.
Member Involvement Committee:
Affiliates and REALTORS® | This Committee meets to create membership events, contests, marketing material, Member Rewards Program and new ways to get members involved in BCAR.
MLS Task Force:
REALTORS® only | This Task Force meets to researches solutions to providing the best possible MLS service, and makes recommendations for MLS Rules and Regulation changes (2 year commitment).
Professional Standards Committee:
REALTORS® only | Must be able to attend Professional Standards Training, upon appointed date. This Committee meets on call and is the hearing panel for requests for arbitration and ethical complaints. Requires a full day training (provided by the Association) to be able to serve (3 year staggered terms).
Strategic Planning Committee:
Affiliates and REALTORS® | This Committee meets at least twice annually and determines the goals and objectives of the Association. They shall outline the programming for the Association year and allocate programs to the appropriate committee. The Strategic Planning Committee will maintain a membership of a target of 18 participants with 3 year equally staggered term limits.
Applicants for Treasurer must have been a member of the BCAR Board of Directors or Budget & Finance Committee for a minimum of two years and must be in good standing. No person may be a candidate for more than one position whether nominated by the Nominating Committee or by petition. Applicants must have involvement in the Association including a minimum of one year service on a committee, task force, or similar activity, including attendance at Association sponsored functions.

BCAR provides several educational opportunities to members, for free or discounted cost. Complete your required education courses, including Continuing Education and Code of Ethics training. Join REALTOR® Learning Resources, which are free member benefit courses. Earn certifications or designations through BCARs partnership with NAR.

The BCAR Cares Task Force meets monthly to research new ways that BCAR and the members can give back to the community. Some of our 'member favorites' are
- Beach clean-up week
- House builds with Habitat for Humanity
- Collect school supplies for local schools
- Fundraiser for Brunswick Family Assistance bikes for the holidays
