Brunswick County Association of REALTORS® Purchases and Packs Over 40,000 Meals on Giving Tuesday

November 27, 2018 was Giving Tuesday, a day on which people came together to help those less fortunate. The Brunswick County Association of REALTORS® (BCAR) and its members teamed up with Pack Shack to provide over 40,000 meals for Brunswick County residents and Brunswick Family Assistance clients. BCAR’s Giving Tuesday event saw over 170 REALTORS® and volunteers coming together to pack 40,100 meals — 100 more meals than the initial goal.

“We are grateful to our members for once again demonstrating their commitment to the community in which we all live and work,” said Clif Cheek, 2018 BCAR President. “Not only was this a worthy cause, but it was also lots of fun. In addition to packing over 40,000 meals, our Giving Tuesday event featured energetic music, singing, and dancing. Brunswick County REALTORS® had a blast while doing our part to make our community a better place.”

Pack Shack is a non-profit organization that travels across the country to host “feed the funnel” parties to provide food to those in need. In order for Pack Shack to come to Shallotte, BCAR had to commit to 40,000 meals — the equivalent of $10,000. The North Carolina REALTORS® contributed $5,000 to the cause, and the Bozeman, MT-based Gallatin Association of REALTORS®, which is headed by former BCAR CEO Steve Candler, contributed an additional $5,000. The Gallatin Association of REALTORS® also contributed an additional $5,000 directly to Brunswick Family Assistance.

The Brunswick County Association of REALTORS® (BCAR) is the local association level of the largest trade association in the nation, presently serving its members, which are comprised of REALTORS®, Appraisers and Affiliate Members. Chartered in 1959 by the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR), BCAR represents the interests of its members in southeastern North Carolina and northeastern South Carolina.
