BCAR members help Habitat for Humanity build a new home
The Brunswick County Association of Realtors® (BCAR) bundled up and braved the cold this morning to join Habitat for Humanity in building a future home for a Brunswick County family. Realtors and affiliates from several local firms came together in a spirit of teamwork, service, and determination—turning a chilly morning into a warm display of community commitment.
Armed with hammers and nails, seven volunteers helped construct several exterior walls, interior walls, and doorways on a Habitat home in Leland. Though the team joked about not being entrusted with nail guns, the group embraced the hands-on challenge with enthusiasm, laughter, and plenty of camaraderie. Remarkably, every participant walked away with all thumbs intact—a victory celebrated almost as proudly as the new walls standing at the end of the day.
“This kind of effort is what community partnership is all about,” said Melony Rice, Intracoastal Realty. “The hard work and positive energy these volunteers brought to the site went a long way toward moving this home one step closer to completion. We are grateful for BCAR’s heart for service and their dedication to helping families build strength, stability, and self-reliance through affordable homeownership.”
While no one expected to build a full house in a single day, the progress made was significant—and meaningful. Volunteers shared that the experience was both rewarding and inspiring, offering a firsthand look at how Habitat for Humanity empowers families to achieve their dream of homeownership.
Habitat for Humanity and the Brunswick County Association of Realtors extend heartfelt thanks to the volunteers who showed up early, worked hard, and helped advance the mission of safe, affordable housing in our community.
